FBI building contract canceled New bids will be solicited for Detroit headquarters Paul Egan The Detroit News (MI) January 14, 2008 DETROIT -- Unexpected costs and tighter credit have forced the federal government to cancel a $100 million contract it awarded for construction of a new Detroit FBI headquarters off the Lodge Freeway. It's not known how long the project will be delayed, but it's clear the FBI's planned occupancy date of April 2009 will be pushed back. ... The Detroit Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, which has a financing plan to develop the proposed FBI site, expects the federal government to request an amendment to the brownfield plan for the site, "based on current economic conditions," spokesman Robert Rossbach said. ...
