Dozens sign up to have homes tested for TCE By John Hill Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) January 23, 2008 ENDICOTT -- Just as hundreds of village residents before them, dozens of West Endicott residents signed up Wednesday night to have their homes tested for the industrial solvent trichloroethylene. The state Department of Environmental Conservation will test the homes, generally in the area south of June Street and north of Main Street, in February and March for the industrial solvent that has shown up in tests of groundwater underneath the neighborhood. The residents should know the results of the tests a few months after that, said Bill Wertz of the DEC. In a meeting attended by about 100 people at Union-Endicott High School, officials from the DEC and the Department of Health briefed residents on the process and solicited volunteers to have their homes tested. ...
