Taxpayers want ICSD reimbursed for South Hill testing By Krisy Gashler Ithaca Journal (NY) February 14, 2008 A group of 90 citizens sent a letter to Gov. Eliot Spitzer Wednesday requesting that the state reimburse the Ithaca City School District for testing at South Hill Elementary school. "Local taxpayers should not bear the cost of investigating toxic problems they did not generate. Please reimburse the Ithaca School District for its monitoring expenses from New York's site remediation fund," the letter states. The school, which sits across South Aurora Street from Emerson Power Transmission, underwent three sets of testing last year for volatile organic compounds, including trichloroethene or TCE. ...
