Taxpayers want ICSD reimbursed for South Hill testing

A group of 90 citizens sent a letter to Gov. Eliot Spitzer Wednesday
requesting that the state reimburse the Ithaca City School District for
testing at South Hill Elementary school.

"Local taxpayers should not bear the cost of investigating toxic
problems they did not generate. Please reimburse the Ithaca School
District for its monitoring expenses from New York's site remediation
fund," the letter states.

The school, which sits across South Aurora Street from Emerson Power
Transmission, underwent three sets of testing last year for volatile
organic compounds, including trichloroethene or TCE.
