Ideas flow for IH site at brownfield planning session

Canton Daily Ledger (IL)
February 20, 2008

A noon-hour brainstorming session to work on developing a vision for the
old International Harvester site was held Tuesday at the Historic Depot
in Canton.

Heinze asked what the objective should be for the IH site -- to bring in
new money, create new jobs, increase TIF (tax increment finance)
district income, improve the appearance of the area?

Ritschel said as a newcomer, he viewed the site as an eyesore, like a
bombed-out area. A newcomer might wonder how long it has been this way
and when it might change. He added this is probably a touchy subject for
some long-time local residents.
