Canton site prepped for project City to provide drainage system at old IH area, set to get retail store BY MATT BUEDEL PEORIA JOURNAL STAR (IL) January 16, 2008 CANTON - City officials have decided to take a short-term, less expensive approach to installing infrastructure on the former International Harvester site as a potential groundbreaking for the first project there looms. Faced with two options that ranged in price from an estimated $195,000 to more than $1.3 million for storm water drainage systems at the vacant Brownfield where the city's largest employer once operated, the City Council on Tuesday voted for the less costly choice. That means they'll prep 14 of the 33 downtown acres on the northern border of the property - the parcels thought to be most primed for development - instead of incorporating a system that would include all of the land. ...
