Spoon River College board meeting to focus on building new multi-purpose 
center

When the Spoon River College Board of Trustees meets on Wednesday, they 
intend to discuss a location for a multi-purpose center.

Among ideas presented earlier, one is to place such a facility at the 
former International Harvester site, and another is to keep it at the 
present college location just west of Canton.

As the Daily Ledger reported after a Tuesday, Feb. 19 Brownfield 
Redevelopment Advisory Committee meeting concerning the former IH site, 
SRC President Robert Ritschel told those attending that if such a center 
were built, it could include a plaza, fountains, and floral gardens as 
well as a gymnasium, theater/auditorium, art gallery, parking areas and 
more.
