Subject: [CPEO-BIF] Former Leelanau County government complex, Leland, Michigan
Residential developers to get public funds

Traverse City Record Eagle (MI)
March 21, 2008

LELAND -- Developers of the former Leelanau County government complex
won approval for more than $1.5 million in public funds to demolish
existing buildings and prepare the site for residential development.

The county's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority will reimburse
developers Varley-Kelly Properties LLC for $350,750 in demolition costs
and asbestos abatement at the 2.4-acre complex in Leland that once
housed the courthouse, sheriff's department and other county agencies.

The demolition funding adds to a previously approved state Department of
Environmental Quality loan for nearly $1.2 million to assess and clean
up contamination at the site.
