Plan to revitalize Southside Grants to help fund new South Main Street building facade, brownfield redevelopment. By G. Jeffrey Aaron Elmira Star-Gazette (NY) April 3, 2008 Economic development officials hope facade work planned for a commercial-residential building on South Main Street and a state brownfield grant will kick-start redevelopment projects for Elmira's Southside. Panosian Enterprises is moving ahead with plans to improve the exterior of its building at South Main and West Henry streets. The property houses Another Man's Treasure, the Barry Scott Insurance Agency and 13 apartments on the upper floors. Announcement of the project came on Wednesday as Elmira Downtown Development Executive Director Jennifer Herrick outlined her agency's current and future projects at EDD's annual meeting at Holiday Inn-Riverview. The South Main Street project is being partly funded by a $30,000 New York Main Street grant, a state program that requires the property owner to match the amount being awarded. Bids for the work are to be returned next week, said Ronald Panosian of Panosian Enterprises. ...
