Henrietta, N.Y. - After environmental investigations of the former AB
Dick Facility in the town of Henrietta found contaminants in the soil
and groundwater, the state Department of Environmental Conservation
wants to investigate the location further to clear the way for future

New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program encourages the voluntary cleanup
of contaminated properties, such as this now-vacant site at 811
Jefferson Road, so that they can be reused and redeveloped.

Investigations in October 2000 and October 2005 found volatile and
semi-volatile organic compounds, metals and other contaminants in the
soil or groundwater. Many volatile compounds are human-made chemicals
such as cleaning solvents and degreasers that are used and produced in
industrial settings.
