Contaminated area in Henrietta may be given a second chance By Robert Barlow Rush-Henrietta Post (NY) March 25, 2008 Henrietta, N.Y. - After environmental investigations of the former AB Dick Facility in the town of Henrietta found contaminants in the soil and groundwater, the state Department of Environmental Conservation wants to investigate the location further to clear the way for future development. New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program encourages the voluntary cleanup of contaminated properties, such as this now-vacant site at 811 Jefferson Road, so that they can be reused and redeveloped. ... Investigations in October 2000 and October 2005 found volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, metals and other contaminants in the soil or groundwater. Many volatile compounds are human-made chemicals such as cleaning solvents and degreasers that are used and produced in industrial settings. ...
