Yonkers, Rochester clash over brownfield program Jay Gallagher Lower Hudson Journal News (NY) April 12, 2008 The mayors of Yonkers and Rochester find themselves poles apart over how to clean up contaminated former industrial sites known as "brownfields." The debate will resume next week at the Capitol. Yonkers Mayor Philip Amicone wants to keep the current program, which has committed hundreds of millions of dollars to only a few developers in the past few years. But Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy backs a proposal by Gov. David Paterson to cap the amount that can be awarded to a developer so that more sites can be cleaned up with existing state funds. ...
