Subject: [CPEO-BIF] Majestic Center, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
5,000 new jobs in store at last Bethlehem Steel tract
$500 million Majestic center would lease to national companies

More than a dozen years after Bethlehem Steel's blast furnaces shut down, billionaire developer Ed Roski Jr. promised Monday that he will bring up to 5,000 jobs to the Lehigh Valley as he redevelops the final 441-acre chunk of Steel land over the next six years.

His proposed $500 million Majestic Bethlehem Center includes massive buildings -- up to a million square feet each -- that would be leased to national companies as early as next year. It would launch the Northeast division of Roski's Majestic Realty Co., based in California, and house a regional office.

During that time, Majestic had to figure out how it would make the project work on a brownfield site -- soil contaminated after a century of steelmaking -- while litigating a federal lawsuit, in part, over environmental cleanup.
