City announces BDA will continue by South Jersey News Online June 30, 2008SALEM -- The city's industrial cleanup initiative will continue to benefit from state funding as officials here announced today the annual renewal of its Brownfield Development Area designation. Salem applied for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection program in 2006, and was awarded designation in late 2007. The BDA comprises approximately 230 acres and includes land areas along the Salem River and Fenwick Creek. To date, Salem City has been awarded more than $900,000 in grants from the NJDEP and the state Economic Development Authority to investigate and clean a total of 13 out of the 24 Brownfield properties within the BDA, city officials said. ...
