Ithaca Gun lead may halt inlet work Inlet Island development hinges on parkland trade By Krisy Gashler Ithaca Journal (NY) July 30, 2008ITHACA - Proper cleanup of Ithaca Falls could impact development possibilities at more than just Ithaca Gun. Development on Inlet Island could also depend on whether the city is able to fully remediate the area around the former gun factory, because the city bought the Ithaca Falls land to act as substitute parkland for the land they wanted to develop on Inlet Island. But New York State's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation never accepted the Ithaca Falls property as parkland because of its extensive lead contamination, Finger Lakes Regional Director Tim Joseph said Tuesday. ...
