Buffalo looks to develop former Buffalo Forge site Sharon Linstedt Buffalo News (NY) August 5, 2008The former Buffalo Forge Co. site in Buffalo's Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood is being targeted as a future home to "high value commercial" facilities. The Buffalo Urban Development Corp. (BUDC) today unveiled plans to acquire the 12.5 acre brownfields site and reclaim it as the city's next "shovel ready" development campus. The city development agency expects to pay approximately $250,000 for the site in a deal to close by the end of the year. Buffalo Forge opened its doors on the site in 1877. It's successor, British-based fan maker Howden Group, shuttered the sprawling plant in 1994. The manufacturing building, which covered eight acres, was razed in 2006 after it was determined that structural problems prevented its reuse. ...
