Brownfield property for sale

Fenton - For sale - 56 acres of rolling, rural terrain on the southeast end of Fenton, classified as a "brownfield site."

The seller is the city of Fenton, hoping to find a buyer for the land. The brownfield classification is according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.

The Tipsico Lake Road parcel is a former landfill, used by the city of Fenton in the '30s and '40s, said Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Chairman Tim Faricy, also a City Council member. A wetland is on the property.

"When comparing brownfields, this one, I believe, is relatively pristine," Faricy said. "It's not necessarily polluted. It's only that it was a landfill."
