Commissioners OK brownfield plan for Beaumont site by Andrew Sawmiller Spinal Column Newsweekly (MI) August 13, 2008The Oakland County Board of Commissioners has approved a five-year, $1.2-million brownfield cleanup plan for a 35-acre area to be the site of a new Beaumont Hospital facility in Commerce Township. The cleanup effort is expected to involve about six parcels located at 2401 Maple Road in Commerce, all of which are said to be contaminated or adjacent to contaminated parcels, according to the county's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The authority's project overview states the property is currently holding two empty buildings and includes vacant land that used to be the site of residential buildings, as well some industrial facilities for Acorn Distributing, Venture RIM Products, Polyurethane, American Fireplace, a restaurant, and a gun manufacturing plant. ...
