Parchment prepares for rebirth of old mill

PARCHMENT -- Unsightly old paper-mill buildings will be gone, with 
homes, stores and offices rising in their place by the end of 2010, 
according to a plan that will be considered by the Parchment City 
Commission Monday night.

Larry Lundine, of Lundine & Associates, Overland Park, Kan., has been 
courting the city since July 2005, hoping to purchase and redevelop the 
city-owned property.

The city has owned the 80-plus acres of mill property west of Riverview 
Drive since Crown Vantage Paper Co. went bankrupt in November 2001. It 
purchased a railroad right-of-way and has been trying to clear up 
environmental issues in order to help make the deal a reality.
