Attica water, some homes being tested for chemicals

ATTICA - Some residents in this Fountain County city are worried that 
hazardous chemical compounds, which have been detected in the town's 
water supply, are posing risks to health and hurting property values.

The chemicals, from a now-defunct Radio Materials Corp. factory, have 
made their way into groundwater, and fumes from the volatile chemicals 
have seeped into homes.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has increased water 
testing as a precaution.

"All of the health issues, stress and depreciation on the property has a 
lot of people worried," said Attica resident Mary Bowles, whose home has 
not been tested. "There is going to be a stigma attached to the homes 
that are affected."
