No plans yet for empty General Motors plant sites Susan Vela Lansing State Journal (MI) December 22, 2008Joy Gleason envisions a unique tourist attraction celebrating Michigan's gardens, tulips and fruit trees where the hulking skeleton of General Motors Corp.'s former Lansing Metal Center now stands. She's trying to raise $50,000 for a business plan to get her dream off the ground and has approached Lansing Township officials about her idea. If Gleason can't find the support for Heritage Park's construction, she'd at least like to see homes on one-acre lots. "We don't need another town plaza," said the Lansing resident who lives a few miles from the two GM plants now being demolished along Saginaw Street. ...
