Conover Station plans include renovation of Broyhill plant by Ken Elkins Charlotte Business Journal January 6, 2009Conover officials are working to redevelop a closed furniture factory into a glitzy rail station in preparation for the launch of passenger train service in Western North Carolina. Both the redevelopment and rail plan are in the early stages. The N.C. Department of Transportation in June approved Conover as a rail stop for service from Salisbury to Asheville. Funding, however, has not been secured for the project. The city of Conover bought the Broyhill Furniture Industries complex site in 2005, where officials now envision developing the new station. ...
