Cleanup plans must be clear Editorial Poughkeepsie Journal (NY) January 28, 2009 It is absolutely imperative for the state to work with local governments and private developers to turn old, polluted industrial sites back to clean, productive business centers and homes. We have seen the benefits of such partnerships here in the mid-Hudson Valley, most notably in the City of Poughkeepsie, where both waterfront and Main Street revitalization initiatives have been aided by such partnerships. In many cases, these are old sites transformed into homes and business space, even senior housing, in part, through money from the state's "brownfields" program. But this cleanup fund also has been a source of contention and is not without its problems. ...
