Sheraton cleanup still on By Jon Seidel Gary Post-Tribune (IN) February 8, 2009GARY -- The New Gary Development Group plans to finish the asbestos cleanup at the former Sheraton Hotel in the next few weeks, now that federal funding is once again available. Phillip Kupritz, principal member of the Chicago-based investment team, said contractors will return to the Sheraton next week to finish their work. "Our financing is in place," Kupritz said.The cleanup came to a halt a few months ago after Kupritz took back the cash collateral he put down to secure a $735,000 federal brownfield loan. State inspectors say the building is 98 percent clear of asbestos. ...
