County upbeat about 28-acre city brownfield development By PATRICK FANELLI Dunkirk Evening Observer (NY) February 25, 2009Chautauqua County officials are in the process of forming a local development corporation to clean up a 28-acre brownfield off Roberts Road in Dunkirk. The property was home to three big employers - the old Roblin Steel plant, the Edgewood Warehouse building and Alumax Extrusions. Each property has since been abandoned, leaving the space almost entirely unusable to developers. County Executive Greg Edwards, Dunkirk Mayor Richard Frey and Legislature Chairman Keith Ahlstrom, D-Dunkirk, will head the local development corporation so the property can be quickly transferred to the winning bidder once proposals are solicited from developers. ....
