Rails to Trails on track By Andrew Ostroski Bethany Beach Wave (DE) March 19, 2009MILTON -- The Rails to Trails project is still progressing despite a lack of state dollars, officials said. AdvertisementAt a recent meeting, town officials discussed portions of the project, which aims to convert a former railroad bed into walking and biking trails. The project has been in the works since 2004, with supporters raising more than $350,000 in funds to support it. The town has also been relying heavily on state funds for Phase 2 of the project, located between Federal and Lavinia streets. ....Clean-up work for the abandoned railroad bed is slated to continue over the coming months to remove soil contaminated by oil from locomotives. A start date for the construction of Phase 2 has not yet been set. ....
