Niles Township meeting met Monday with debate By JESSICA SIEFF Niles Daily Star (MI) April 21, 2009Undertones of tension seemed to be present during the Niles Charter Township regular meeting Monday night, as members of the board debated over several issues including the claim on behalf of Lowe's that funds are due based on a Brownfield Authority agreement developed upon the store's arrival to the township and the possibility of adopting a four day work week. ...Finally, after Kidwell refused during the previous meeting at the Township to sign any agreement to pay funds back to Lowe's that were apparently expected in accordance to a Brownfield Authority plan developed when the home improvement store made the decision to come to Niles, the subject was brought up for discussion before the board again - this time with recommendations from the township's attorney, Christopher Lynch. The issue focuses on the fact that Lowe's had agreed to handle cleanup of their current property with the understanding that through the Brownfield plan those funds would be reimbursed. ...
