Soil samples show low-level contamination By Nick Malinowski Springfield Sun (PA) May 28, 2009Preliminary soil sampling indicates that low concentrations of the contaminants found at the former Tank Car Corp. of America property on Oreland Mill Road are present on residential properties abutting the site, an official with the Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday. While there is some circumstantial evidence that the contaminants migrated from the Tank Car site to the residential properties, final results have not yet been released and are still subject to change, EPA site coordinator Mike Towle said. Residents can be relieved that the EPA has not released the preliminary data or begun to remove contaminants on the residential properties, because these actions would indicate contamination of a level of "elevated concern," Towle said. ...
