Contaminated site in Elrama to be cleaned up Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (PA) May 30, 2009HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection plans to clean up a hazardous waste site in the Elrama section of Union Township, according to state Rep. David Levdansky, D-Forward Township. "From 1995 to 2004, various businesses operated out of the building at 28 Davidson Avenue, the most recent being The Classic Auto Restoration Services, also known as CARS," Levdansky explained. "Since 2004, this building has been abandoned, along with chemicals used in the electroplating process. "For nearly five years, DEP has tried to keep this dilapidated building sealed and the public away from the site due to the contamination by padlocking the doors, yet trespassers continue to break in. I am pleased to report that funding is now available to tear down the building and remove contaminated soil in the area." ...
