Middleburg Heights will convert vacant Marathon gas station into park by Michelle McCafferty Independence Sun News (OH) June 26, 2009MIDDLEBURG HTS. The city will soon have a bit more green space with the development of a park on the corner of Smith and Pearl roads. Once the site of a vacant Marathon gas station, the .533-acre plot was purchased by the city on May 22 and plans are in the works to turn it into a public recreation space, said Mayor Gary Starr. "It's going to consist of landscaped areas, pavilions and informational kiosks constructed and linked to the Metroparks as a collaborative effort in promoting Big Creek Parkway and the Lake to Lake Trail," he said. ...
