Historic Ozark building evaluated for cleanup DONNA BAXTER SPRINGFIELD NEWS-LEADER (MO) JUNE 26, 2009Ozark -- The old fieldstone community building erected on the Christian County courthouse square by workers in the Depression-era WPA program is being evaluated for its eligibility for an environmental cleanup grant. The state Department of Natural Resources is eyeing the building for a possible "brownfields cleanup program," said Ozark City Manager Steve Childers. "Everything was built with asbestos in those days," Childers said of the fieldstone structure built by the Work Progress Administration and dedicated in 1933. ...
