Tax Credits Sought To Clean Up St. Joe Site by Anna Forder Webster-Kirkwood Times (MO) July 3, 2009The Kirkwood City Council on June 18 agreed to apply for economic assistance through a state program to help with clean-up costs of the former St. Joseph Hospital site. The Brownfield Redevelopment Program encourages redevelopment of commercial and industrial sites that are contaminated with hazardous substances and have been under-utilized for at least three years. Kirkwood residents living near the former St. Joseph Hospital at 525 Couch Ave. spoke to the council in May with concerns about hazardous chemicals at the location. They requested that testing be done and that soil contaminated by chemicals used at the hospital re removed....
