Echo Lake Brownfield responds to concerns By James Perucci Watertown Town Times (CT) July 23, 2009Echo Lake Brownfield addressed the concerns of residents and the Planning & Zoning Commission during a continuation of the public hearing for its application on Wednesday, July 15. ...."The DEP may choose or not choose to have certain contaminants removed," Atty. Wellington said. "It's called disruption; the DEP prefers to not have materials disrupted if they are not causing or providing contamination." Atty. Wellington further stated that the DEP has told ELB that they are "not going to put fill in there" until the site has been cleaned and that fact has been shown to the DEP. "PCB's [poly chlorinated bithenyls] will most likely have to be removed, petroleum contaminants, there may be hotspots they want removed," said Atty. Wellington. "There may be other contaminants below standards the DEP wants left in place." ....
