Demolition of homes near Keith School delayed for environmental review BECKY W. EVANS New Bedford Standard-Times (MA) September 17, 2009NEW BEDFORD - The demolition of six houses on contaminated land near the Keith Middle School remains delayed as federal environmental officials review the city's demolition plans and seek comment from abutters. City officials filed a PCB remediation notification Wednesday with the Environmental Protection Agency. The notification was required under federal law due to potential PCB-contamination of the houses' concrete foundations, a portion of which the city is seeking to crush and reuse as fill. The city's plan is under review by EPA officials, agency spokesman David Deegan said. ...
