Contaminated? DEC to test Fall Brook site By Jeffery Smith Corning Leader (NY) September 30, 2009Corning, N.Y. - The process of finding out what lies under the former Fall Brook site on Tioga Avenue begins today. Soil samples will be taken to determine if the site of the former glass manufacturing plant is contaminated. Sarah Horvath, a Corning Inc. spokesman, said the investigation will take 4-6 weeks to complete. The investigation is the first step in potentially cleaning the site under the state's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Horvath said the Brownfield designation does not mean the site is contaminated. ....
