U.S. EPA comes up with plan to treat water contamination in Copley By Bob Downing Akron Beacon Journal (OH) October 28, 2009A remedy with a $5 million price tag has been selected for a federal Superfund site in Copley Township. The plan chosen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday calls for treating contaminated groundwater near the Copley Square Plaza and connecting about 30 households to Akron water. In addition, some buildings, including the Meadows of Copley condominiums, will get devices to collect any dangerous vapors that might move through the soil and seep into the structures. The EPA will inject a chemical compound into contaminated groundwater near the plaza at Copley and Jacoby roads to break down the dry-cleaning chemicals that are polluting a shallow aquifer. ...
