M'ville ponders brownfield By Danielle Sanzone Troy Record (NY) December 16, 2009MECHANICVILLE - With the brownfield investigation of the Light Industrial Park drawing to a close, city officials are unsure about the next step with how to go about safely developing the site. The city is waiting for the certification of completion from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to sell the 25-acre property and, after more than a decade of contamination investigations, finally get revenue from the site, said Commissioner of Accounts Mark Seber. Seber is hopeful that the city will get the needed certification by January and will be able to secure a buyer by the spring. A couple of developers, including Logistics One, have shown interest in the property. What has yet to be determined, however, is how much work the city will need to do on the property before they can sell it. Depending on how the site is used, about 6-inches of concrete, 6-inches of blacktop, or a foot of clean soil will need to be put down. ...
