Action plan due on north Chico plume By LARRY MITCHELL Chico Enterprise Record (CA) December 28, 2009CHICO -- By late January or early February, the state expects to announce its plans for cleaning up a polluted site near the North Valley Plaza mall. The "action plan" will be available online and at the Chico library, said Carol Northrup, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Toxic Substances Control. Chemicals have contaminated the soil and groundwater in a 6.5-acre area near the intersection of East Avenue and Cohasset Road. The pollution came from a business called the North Valley Plaza Cleaners, which operated at 801 East Ave. from 1964 to 1997. ...
