Former Essex Wire property is discussed WLKM Radio News (MI) January 20, 2010Ongoing efforts by the City of Three Rivers to clean up the former Essex Wire property were in the spotlight Tuesday evening (January 19th) as the Three Rivers City Commission conducted a public hearing on the subject. David Stegink of Envirologic Technologies, Inc. provided an overview of an 'Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives' for the site at 618 Fourth Street, an extensive report prepared by the Kalamazoo-based environmental consulting firm in conjunction with a $200,000 Brownfield Cleanup Grant awarded to the city by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). During a post-meeting interview, City Manager Joe Bippus said that Stegink showed how much environmental testing has been done on the site over the years by different firms and the state. He also presented what Bippus described as "'a top three list' of things that we think we can do with this $200,000 grant that we got from the EPA." ...
