Town to submit cleanup proposal for Freetown Screw site By Jeffrey D. Wagner Herald News (MA) February 14, 2010FREETOWN - The former Freetown Screw factory off County Road is hammering away at Freetown's pockets and could cause more damage in the form of fines from the Environmental Protection Agency. In response, the Board of Selectmen last week agreed to pay $3,500 to prepare and submit a cleanup proposal to the EPA. Interim Town Administrator John Healey said the brownfield site costs the town more money each year in rising insurance premiums. "Just remember, it is costing more in insurance every year because it is considered a hazardous location in derelict condition," Healey told the board Monday. ...
