EPA change saves Dayton millions By Thomas Gnau Dayton Daily News (OH) February 24, 2010The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is withdrawing from oversight of development at Tech Town, Dayton's high-tech business park, leaving oversight to the Ohio EPA, government officials said Wednesday, Feb. 24. It's not just a bureaucratic shift, city officials said. The move means that once Dayton becomes the owner of Tech Town, it won't have to pay back $6 million in Clean Ohio funds that had helped with clean-up of the former General Motors site. Under federal rules, if Dayton had been owner of the site under federal jurisdiction, it would not have been eligible for state funds — so the city would have had to re-pay state funds already received. Matt Joseph, a Dayton city commissioner, called the news "huge." ...
