Uniroyal work moving ahead By PAMELA H. METAXAS Springfield Republican (MA) February 24, 2010CHICOPEE - The city has received a $100,000 grant for the next phase of demolition at the former Uniroyal/Facemate property. The grant, from the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency, Brownfield Redevelopment Fund, will be used "for a technical analysis concerning the stability of the buildings" not included in the current demolition, said Mayor Michael D. Bissonnette. The assessment will also study any environmental contamination.The grant paves the way for a $2 million development grant. Officials are hopeful the development will include retail and commercial space as well as a new senior center. ...
