A deal in the worksIn an effort to relocate wastewater plant, authority offers $3.7 million for properties By CARL ROTENBERG Norristown Times Herald Staff (PA) March 21, 2010NORRISTOWN - A state H2O grant awarded last year to help construct a new wastewater treatment plant in Norristown will now be used to purchase nearly 12 acres on the waterfront for the treatment plant. ...A multi-alarm fire in April 2009 at the Nicolet building was ruled "accidental" by Norristown Fire Marshall Charles Sweeney. Three homeless men had been living on the second level of an office structure within the building for more than a year and were allegedly habitual alcohol drinkers and cigarette smokers, Sweeney said. The Nicolet property, used since the early 1900s to make pipe and boiler insulation and commercial grade asbestos paper, was purchased by O'Neill for $55,500 in December 2001 as a potential Brownfield development site. ...
