National Grid teams on brightfields deal by Kyle Alspach Boston Business Journal April 29, 2010National Grid and a Newton solar company are developing a 1-megawatt solar array on a former brownfield site in Haverhill, Mass., most likely the largest "brightfields" project in New England.
Construction on the project began during the past week and is expected to finish in 2010, said John Tourtelotte, managing director of solar developer Rivermoor Energy.
Rivermoor also has developed a project to erect a 240-kilowatt solar array on the roof of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission building. That project is under construction and expected to complete in the fall, Tourtelotte said.
In Haverhill, the project is being built on a roughly five-acre former industrial site on Hilldale Avenue, owned by National Grid.
