Massive industrial park breaks ground on reclaimed brownfield in Findlay Pop City Media (PA) June 2, 2010A 302-acre reclaimed brownfield in Findlay Township is being transformed into a large industrial and commercial office park that hopes to bring 1,400 new jobs to the region. The Chapman Commerce Center at Westport Road will be a 2.6 million-square-foot mixed-use industrial complex with access to the Turnpike and close proximity to the Pittsburgh International Airport. The groundbreaking of the former strip mine was held this week by local officials and Chapman Properties. The first phase of the project will begin this summer, opening 40 acres of pad-ready sites. The construction of a 93,000-square-foot LEED-certified warehouse and light manufacturing building is planned for 2011. The initial phase will be funded through a $2 million Commonwealth Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant approved last year. ...For the entire article, see http://www.popcitymedia.com/devnews/chapman0602.aspx -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
