Press Release Aerojet August 5, 2010 EPA Case Study Praises Aerojet's Solar Array Partnership Signifies the Positive Impact Around the StateSACRAMENTO, Calif., /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a 14-page study highlighting the company's partnership with EPA, SMUD and Solar Power, Inc. (SPI) that led to the installation of the largest single-site industrial solar array system in California and one of the largest single-site industrial solar farms in the United States. The study documents the key factors, lessons learned and required steps that led to the rapid, successful restoration of Aerojet land to beneficial use as an energy-producing environmental asset. Aerojet and its partners designed and installed the fully operational six megawatt (MW) solar farm that spans across 40-acres of Aerojet's land. The solar array now powers portions of the company's existing groundwater remediation efforts, provides existing power for Aerojet's internal operations, and reduces the company's carbon footprint. For the next 25 years this system will produce approximately 11,000,000 kWh of renewable energy annually. To put that in perspective, the first-year net clean energy benefits equate to removing approximately 1,075 combustion engine vehicles from California's highways, or the clean air benefits realized from planting 1,396,423 trees. The EPA and other state regulatory agencies supported the partnership with land evaluations, remedial consultation and recommendations throughout the development and final array installation. ...
