Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] EPA seeks comments on expanded Job Training Grants |
Draft FY 2011 Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grant
Application Guidelines
EPA provides funds to eligible entities, including non-profit organizations, to deliver environmental workforce development and job training programs focused on hazardous and solid waste management, assessment, and cleanup associated activities. Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training (EWDJT) grants are provided to recruit, train, and place, unemployed and under-employed, predominantly low-income and minority, residents historically affected by hazardous and solid waste sites and facilities with the skills needed to secure full-time, sustainable employment in the environmental field and in the assessment and cleanup work taking place in their communities. Formerly referred to as the "Brownfields Job Training Grants Program," the "Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grants Program," supports expanded environmental training outside the traditional scope of just brownfields but builds upon the existing model and the capacity created through the Brownfields Job Training Program since its inception in 1998. This notice solicits comments on the drafted FY11 EWDJT grant application guidelines. Comments are due no later than September 13, 2010 to Joe Bruss at bruss.joseph@epa.gov.
