Cleanup measure clears hurdle in Trenton By Rebecca Forand Gloucester County Times (NJ) November 5, 2010Municipalities could have the ability to get funding to clean up contaminated sites through a bill that is currently moving through the Legislature. The state Assembly has already approved a bill that will allow municipalities to apply for no-interest loans in order to remediate brownfield development areas, properties that are complicated to redevelop or expand due to the possible presence of contaminants or hazardous substances. There are currently 31 brownfield development areas in the state, totaling more than 3,290 acres of land. One property, the Fazio-Deptford Landfill, a 70-acre site, lies partially in Gloucester County. ...
