American Public University opens green academic center By RICHARD F. BELISLE Hagerstown Herald Mail (MD) November 18, 2010CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - It looms over 330 N. George St. like a brick monolith, reaching its 45,000 square feet over four stories. American Public University System's new Academic Center - a state-of-the-art "green" structure built over a brownfield created by a metal salvage yard operation - was dedicated Thursday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. About 140 employees are moving into it.The library occupies half of the first floor, an admissions office on the other half. A conference room, offices and other functions fill rooms on subsequent floors, including space for the academic dean, program manager, provost and wellness center and nursery. ...
