Brownfield Redevelopment Authority may acquire two abandoned industrial 
sites in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo Brownfield Redevelopment Authority could be 
picking up two abandoned industrial properties from the Kalamazoo County 
Land Bank with an eye toward environmental cleanup and redevelopment.

Jerome Kisscorni, Kalamazoo's Economic Development Corp. director and 
head of the city's brownfield redevelopment program, said the authority 
may take title to the former JA Richards property, located in the 900 
block of Pitcher Street on Kalamazoo's northeast side, at no cost to the 
city.

Kisscorni said the city may then use federal stimulus funds to demolish 
buildings on the 2.5 acres, a former industrial site, and conduct 
environmental remediation.
