Engineer says cleanup of Ilion brownfield is complete By Stephanie Sorrell-White Herkimer Telegram (NY) December 2, 2010Ilion, N.Y. - After over two years of work and cleanup at a former gas service station site, an official working on the project told the Ilion village board Wednesday the work is completed. David Hanny, managing environmental scientist with the Syracuse-based engineering firm Barton and Loguidice, said the project is complete and that the site investigation reports have been submitted to the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the state Department of Health. “We are recommending no further action at the site,” said Hanny in a telephone interview Thursday. The former Woods Service Station at 123 West Main St. opened in the 1950s and operated as a gas station and a car repair shop. Hanny said the shop had been inactive since 2004. ...
