2 affordable housing projects awarded grants By Lee Howard The Day (CT) December 29, 2010Two local affordable-housing projects have received a portion of $8.8 million in grants, loans and subsidies given to state organizations during the latest round of funding announced this week by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut won a $50,000 grant to build the Fitch Avenue Homes in New London, while Women's Institute Realty of Connecticut Inc. got nearly $1.2 million in funding for Ferry Crossing in Old Saybrook. ...The two-unit Fitch Avenue Homes project is being built on a brownfield remediated using a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ...
